The Translation Coordination Unit from the European Institute of Romania has been providing translations and linguistic and legal revisions of different documents concerning human rights.
Since January 2009, on the basis of the Protocol concluded between the European Institute of Romania, the Superior Council of Magistracy and the Government Agent for the European Court of Human Rights from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we have been translating and revising cases and information documents on the case-law of the European Court of Human Rights.
We have also started the translation of the HUDOC interface, according to a Memorandum of Agreement on the development of a Romanian HUDOC user interface concluded with the European Court of Human Rights in March 2023. From August 2023 to April 2024, we are implementing a Grant Agreement signed with the Council of Europe, for translating the HUDOC interface and the relevant ECHR case law into Romanian.
By translating the relevant ECHR case law and the HUDOC interface into Romanian, we are contributing to the implementation of Recommendation CM/Rec(2021)4 of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to member states on the publication and dissemination of the European Convention on Human Rights, the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and other relevant texts.
Starting the first semester of 2020, on the basis of the Bilateral cooperation protocol agreed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Institute of Romania, we have been translating and revising certain documents adopted by UN human rights monitoring mechanisms established by conventional instruments to which Romania is party or through the UN documents, as well as other documents relating to the monitoring activity.
