Today, the European Institute of Romania hosted a special edition of the #Dialogues@IER. Our distinguished guest, Mr. Jacques Pelkmans, Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges and Associate Senior Fellow at CEPS, responded to the invitation addressed by the EIR director general, Mrs. Oana-Mihaela Mocanu, and paid us a visit in Bucharest. During the event held at the European Institute of Romania, insights have been shared about the recent and future activities of the Institute. We also discussed about the developments and challenges of the European integration process.
This reunion represented a good occasion for sharing perspectives on the state of the institutes focused on European affairs and for debating on current European issues. In his capacity of consultant on the development of the research pillar at within the European Institute of Romania in the years 2000, Mr. Pelkmans acknowledged and praised the achievements of the Institute, emphasizing the need for consolidating the institutional capacity of EIR.
Moreover, during the exchange of views with the participants to the event, a series of aspects related to public policies and the European economy were highlighted, namely the importance of having impact assessments on public policies, the competitivity of the EU, the unification of the capital markets, the value of the input from the entrepreneurs in the process of drafting economic reports with a wide scope.
