Editorial release: The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union – advancing the legislative agenda and preparing the reflection process on the common European future

The European Institute of Romania (EIR) announces the publication,  in the Opinions section, of a paper titled “The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union – advancing the legislative agenda and preparing the reflection process on the common European future”. Authored by Oana-Mihaela Mocanu (Director General of the European Institute of Romania) and Caroline-Raluca Ghețu (Expert in the Studies Unit/European Affairs Department, EIR), this opinion highlights a series of aspects regarding  the relevance and complexity of the six priorities of the Belgian Presidency in the current international context, characterised by crises, instability, conflicts, and uncertainties. The concerns over the EU’s security and internal cohesion and the establishment of the EU’s role as a geopolitical and economic power will be some of the key issues to be dealt with in the forthcoming months, when the main directions of the EU’s Strategic Agenda will be set out.

The opinion is available here, in Romanian.
