Debate: Potential economic growth

4 February 2016 – The Romanian Economic Society (SOREC), the Economic Forecast Institute of the Romanian Academy and the European Institute of Romania (EIR) organized a debate on Potential economic growth.

The potential economic growth is a central topic in the academic debate, for governments and central banks, for the business environment and for the society as a whole. Increased attention is being given to this topic in the context of the deep financial crisis, a fall in productivity during the last decades in the industrialized world, population ageing, the nature of technological progress, over-indebtedness, and the growth models crisis.

Two key-aspects were under debate: potential growth – methodological aspects; and how can potential growth be increased.
