The European Institute of Romania (EIR) – Academic Partner of the International Conference “Future of Europe (FoE)”

The European Institute of Romania (EIR), in academic partnership with The Faculty of International Business and Economics within the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), organised on 24-25 October, 2024 the 15th edition of the International Conference entitled Future of Europe.

The opening session of the conference took place in the Aula Magna of ASE on October 24th and featured prominent academics and researchers from universities in Germany, Croatia, the United Arab Emirates, and more.

In conjunction with the conference, on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, the EUROPE DIRECT Centre in Bucharest, hosted by the European Institute of Romania (EIR), organised a debate event titled “European Citizens’ Agora – The EU Enlargement Process as a Catalyst for Progress”.

During the debate, the following aspects were highlighted:

  • The EU Accession Process – From Aspiration to Accomplished Objective (Eliza VAȘ, Coordinator of Studies Unit, the European Institute of Romania);
  • Rule of Law – A Key Component of Just Society, Political Stability, and Economic Growth (Radu-Vladimir RĂUȚĂ, Coordinator of dMonitor, PhD Candidate, National University of Political Studies and Public Administration);
  • Cooperation for Promoting European Cultural Connections in the Context of Enlargement Policy (Mihaela PĂDUREANU, Expert, Studies Unit, the European Institute of Romania);
  • Accession vs. Misinformation – How European Integration Becomes a Target of Misinformation (Bianca TOMA, Programme Director, Romanian Centre for European Policies).

The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. Octavian Dragomir JORA, Faculty of International Business and Economics at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE), founder and editor-in-chief of The Market for Ideas journal.

On October 25th, the second day of the conference, sessions were held at the National Bank of Romania (NBR), opening with a plenary session graced by the presence of H.E. Mrs. Luminița Odobescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Valentin Lazea, Chief Economist of the NBR, Mrs. Natalia Gavriliță, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, along with other distinguished academic figures. The plenary was followed by scientific panel sessions presented by doctoral students and researchers on current topics in Economics, European Affairs, and International Relations.

The event also marked the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of International Business and Economics, on which we extend warm congratulations to our partners and best wishes for future success in their activities and projects!
