On 21 March 2022, the EU foreign affairs and defence ministers sitting in a joint session of the Council discussed and approved the Strategic Compass of the European Union. The document is now expected to be endorsed by the heads of states or governments at the European Council scheduled to take place on 24-25 March 2022, in Brussels.
In the collective Working Paper titled “The Strategic Compass of the European Union. An answer to global challenges“, the experts of the European Studies Unit provide an overview of the negotiations, the main objectives and national positions, as well as of the means through which the document reflects the transatlantic relation.
