Editorial release: The New Normal in EU Affairs and Diplomacy

The European Institute of Romania is pleased to announce the release of a new paper for the “Opinions” section, dedicated to the way European affairs and diplomacy are evolving in the current period, suggestively entitled “The New Normal in EU Affairs and Diplomacy“.

The author, Radu Magdin, Romanian analyst in the field of European affairs, tackles a series of challenges that define the current context: finding ways to replicate online (at least partly) the informal component that is essential to diplomacy; ensuring the highest level of security, as the cyber-attack threat to high-level meetings and consultations is real; reliance on digital diplomacy does not have to be equivalent to “maintenance” diplomacy; international affairs professionals need to be conversant in both the old and new paradigms and this will not happen overnight.
