We propose to our readers a new working paper, published within our microstudies collection, titled: The attitudes and perceptions of Romanian youth regarding the European Union. The paper is authored by Iorgus-Serghei Cicală and was written during an internship at the European Institute of Romania, European Studies Unit. Through his research, Iorgus investigates the favourable attitude of Romanian young people towards the European Union, while also identifying potential Eurosceptic trends among them. The analysis shows an increased level of trust among young Romanians for the European authorities, which are credited as safe and reliable. However, the respondents acknowledge the existence of double standard cases that might characterise the relationship between the EU and certain member states, such as Romania. The author also presents a number of recommendations leading to an increased level of confidence in the European institutions, respectively fostering Euro-enthusiastic attitudes among young people and other demographic groups.
We invite you to read the working paper here (available in Romanian).
