EIR conference at UNESCO – CEPES

30 September 2010 – EIR organised within the series “Policies of Romania“, the round table on “Improving vocational competencies among graduates and youths:  A chance for the future“, on 30 September 2010 at the UNESCO-European Centre for Higher Education, 39 Ştirbei Vodă Str.

The main objective of the series of debates “Policies of Romania“, launched by the European Institute of Romania in 2008, is to bring forward on the European public agenda the themes tackled in the Strategy and Policy Studies – SPOS.

The study upon this debate was built is realised in a multi-disciplinary, legal, economic and educational approach and starts from a diagnosis of the training process for vocational competencies, highlights the extent to which current mechanisms, instruments and policies from the education field answer to current and future needs of the labour market, and the extent to which current practices at national/European level might contribute to bringing closer knowledge, competencies and skills demand and supply, under the conditions of increasing the dynamics of incorporating new technologies in production and daily life, of deepening the process of European integration and of globalisation. The study, in substantiating the measures’ and policies’ proposals, considers the coordination with trends and directions at European level with respect to the development of vocational competencies among graduates and youths: Youth Strategy-2010-2018, EU 2020 Strategy, Key competences for lifelong learning, European reference framework, 2007 etc.
