The mission of the Europe Direct Information Centre, hosted by the European Institute of Romania, is to provide an information and communication space allowing for easy access to information on EU institutions, policies, priorities, the rights and responsibilities of European citizens.
Framework objectives:
- to raise awareness of the citizens living in Bucharest-Ilfov Region regarding EU policies by offering general information support;
- to stimulate debates on European issues and building a constant communication environment, especially among young people and various disadvantaged groups of people, by organizing non-formal awareness raising events on their rights and responsibilities and through various other communication tools;
- to increase the impact and visibility of the information and communication actions of the European Commission Representation and the Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Romania;
- to strength the EDIC’s network, both in Romania and other EU Member States, by organizing joint actions and disseminating relevant information on the Centre’s work.
For January 2020 – April 2021, Bucharest Europe Direct Information Centre’s objectives are:
- to improve the level of information for at least 300 young citizens between 18 and 39 years old, from the Bucharest – Ilfov Region about European topics by facilitating access to the EDIC Bucharest services (web-site, newsletter, Facebook page and direct phone number);
- to facilitate the participation in events and exchanges of ideas for at least 500 beneficiaries between 18 and 39 years old (including NEETs and disadvantaged young people) by promoting active citizenship focused on the European Commission’s priorities;
- to improve the partnership between the Europe Direct Centres from at least two regions in Romania and at least one EU Centre (e.g. Bulgaria) by organizing at least 3 events with at least 60 beneficiaries.
Activities planned for January 2020-April 2021:
- information services provided to both Centre visitors and on request by direct phone number or by e-mail;
- project management and updating of EDIC Bucharest website and other social communication channels (e.g. Facebook page, Twitter page, YouTube page);
- developing materials and information brochures on European topics;
- European information seminars organized in high schools in the Bucharest-Ilfov Region;
- Forum theatre performances within the ‘It’s up to you to make a change!’ roadshow (topic: European citizenship and democracy);
- World café events in line with the European Commission’s communication priorities;
- Cross-border EU decision-making process simulations (organized in cooperation with other Europe Direct Information Centres from the EU);
- Experience and good practice exchanges with other Europe Direct Information Centres from the EU.
The budget allocated for the period January 2020 – April 2021 amounts to EUR 73,645, out of which EUR 32,375 represents the European Commission’s contribution and EUR 41,270 represents the contribution of the European Institute of Romania.
