Editorial release: Middle Powers Realities in the EU amid Great Power Ambitions

The European Institute of Romania has the pleasure to announce a new entry in its ‘Opinions’ section. The text, written by Radu Magdin, is dedicated to the international role of the European Union, against the background of the multiple and interconnected COVID-19 sparked crises. In this difficult context, the author favours the idea of a European Union that portrays itself and acts as an alliance of middle powers with great ambitions, while resisting the temptation to embrace great power status on the world scene. By acting with humility and empathy, the EU could better pursue its strategic goals as part of a network of partners that belong to the same community of values. The full text of the opinion entitled “Middle Powers Realities in the EU amid Great Power Ambitions” can be accessed here.
