The European Institute of Romania (EIR) announces the publication, in the Opinions section, of a paper titled “Benefits and challenges of the euro”. Written by Adam Kerényi, a research fellow at the Centre for Economic and Regional Studies – Institute of World Economics (Budapest, Hungary), this opinion presents the steps that led to the establishment of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), and the rationale behind the creation of the euro. At the same time, it highlights not only the importance of observing the convergence criteria in view of joining the Eurozone, but also the additional conditions to be fulfilled so that the adoption of the euro brings more benefits than challenges.
The opinion is available here, in English.
