1 April 2011: The launch of the project – Preparing Moldova for a comprehensive free trade area with the European Union

1 April 2011 – The European Institute of Romania and the Department for European Affairs organised a press conference with the occasion of the launch of the project Preparing Moldova for a comprehensive free trade area with the European Union at the Infoeuropa Centre.

Mr. Bogdan Mănoiu, Minister, Head of the Department for European Affairs, Leonard Orban, Presidential Counsellor for European Affairs, former European Commissioner, Honorary President of EIR, Mrs. Gabriela Drăgan, Director-General of the European Institute of Romania, His Excellency, Mr. Iurie Reniţă, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova at Bucharest, Mr. Dinu Toderaşcu, Program Manager for Moldova, Ukraine and Rusia, The Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation (BST) Bucharest Office,  as well as a representative of IDIS Viitorul (Chişinău) have been invited to the event.

Background:
The European Institute of Romania together with IDIS Viitorul (Republic of Moldova) carry out a project financed by Black Sea Trust (German Marshall Fund) between March and October 2011. The project aims at supporting the authorities of the Republic of Moldova directly involved in the negotiation process for concluding a free trade agreement with the EU. The objectives of the project are: the carry out of a training program (at Chişinău) for 30 members of the central public administration of the Republic of Moldova concerning the free trade within the EU, the carry out of a study concerning the consequences of a large and comprehensive free trade area over the economy of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the stimulation of the debates, knowledge collaboration and transfer through the organisation of a debate (at Chişinău) on the topic of the free trade within the EU.
